OVER VIEW

WEFSA FARMERS PRODUCER COMPANY LIMITED is envisioned in 2014 by a group of young and energetic farmers with empathy for the marginalized and under-privileged mass of the farming society, all of whom decided to work at the grassroots in order to change socio-economic condition of farming community.

WEFSA believes that equipping the marginalized and poor with the technical, organizational, marketing, negotiating and networking skills will enable them to break free from intergenerational poverty.

WEFSA will has been working towards professionalizing farm produces and vegetable street vendors and marginal growers, and empowering them to face the future challenges in the new global economy, and thus creating wealth and prosperity from farm gate to food plate through undertaking the holistic view of produces supply chain. Attractive partnerships have been formed between the farmers and the vendors with a focus on shared interests and mutual growth. To maintain product integrity from source to the customer, the company has established a totally integrated supply chain and services bundle which connects and maintains the flow of goods from the source (growers) to customer (road-side vendors, organized retail, food service and hospitality industry). Key benefits of the model include waste reduction (quantity and time), shelf-life extension and cost reduction of agri-produce from hinterlands and upcountry sources to the markets.

WEFSA takes the holistic view of the vegetable and produce supply chain and are organizing the two far ends of the chain. It is working towards integrating the informal vegetable supply chain by taking the following steps

• Organizing the farmers and forming a group for collective and planned farming.
• Establishing and creating the supply chain infrastructure.
• Organizing the vendors and forming a marketing group.
• Linking the marketing and farming group.
